Different types of rodent trap

There are many different forms of rodent traps, from many different manufactures and ranging price and quality. Many professionals see some traps far more effective than others. The main types of traps can be split into a few categories: Snap Traps, Glue Traps, and Humane Traps.

Snap Traps

Snap traps are the most common trap in the pest control industry. They are a traditional trap, which is baited and once triggered the arm snaps over killing the rodent instantly. Snap traps are a perfect solution to a rodent problem where there are no alternate food sources as the rodents will be attracted to the bait and will trigger the trap.

Glue Traps

Glue traps are considered to be the most effective rodent trap on the market. There are thick industrial card, covered in a sticky adhesive. These are best placed round the edge of rooms and as the rodents scurry around at night they will be caught on the glue and will not be able to get off. Glue Traps are species specific so for rats, rat glue traps should be used and for mice, mouse glue traps should be used.

Humane Traps

Humane Traps come in several forms, ranging from cage traps, to humane multi-catch traps and they are live capture traps that do not kill the rodents. They are a baited trap that, which attracts the rodent to the trap and once the trap has been triggered the rodent will be caught and will not be able to get out.

Each of these traps are effective in their own way and are useful for different situations.
